Good things come in small packages

I had to show you this beautifully wrapped box I received for Christmas. Actually, there were lots of them wrapped just like this one wrapped in a big box wrapped just like this one. I love pineapples; so this little added touch made me squeal.

And here is the lovely pineapple that was added on.

Inside of all these boxes was this! Williams-Sonoma everyday dinnerware. They were having a sale and I have been wanting some white dishes that can go in the dishwasher, micro and oven for a while now. I hinted to the hubs and surprised me with them on Christmas.

Our meals look so much more appetizing on the white plates. We use them everday and I have washed them in the dishwasher and by hand and they are holding up great.

On a side note, I went thrifting today. Well, actually I had a trunk and backseat load of stuff to take to Goodwill. I thought while I was there I would look around and see if I could find a dress for an upcoming evening event we wil be going to. But, I didn't have any luck there.
I did however find a cream cardigan with Mother of Pearl buttons on it. Love that little detail. I also saw this handpump for lotion or soap and I thought to myself as I looked at it that it looked like a Longaberger piece. Sure enough, it was! I got the Longaberger lotion/soap pump for 99 cents! Can you believe that??? I had to casually scoop it up and walk quickly to the register. For $8.00 I was a happy camper.

We have a bigger Goodwill about 25 minutes north of us. I am hoping to go there later this week and see what goodies I can find there.

I will share more later in the week.
Have a blessed day!

THRIFTING

Looks like Summer has officially come to a close. The kids are heading back to school and the plethera of yard sales and garage sales will slow down considerably as Fall approaches and the days get shorter and cooler.

I didn't do as much yard saling this summer as I would of liked to. But recently, I had the opportunity to catch a yard sale and an estate sale in the past of couple of weeks.

I purchased this wood tray for $1.50 at a garage sale. I liked the size of it and have plans to sand it down and paint it white and add some kind of design or something in the middle. I plan on using it in my guest room. More on that next week. I have been tweeking things in there since I last posted on it.

Last Friday I stopped at an estate sale. It was the first one I had ever been to. I gotta tell you, there was a lot of stuff. Everything from clothes to furniture. I should of stopped at this sale on Thurs. when it was advertised because there was an awesome armoire I would of love to have bought for our family room. Ah well, live and learn, right? LOL, I am still learning. The woman who passed away shared my love for anything with stitching and sewing. I purchased two rotary cutters and this magnetic circular thing for $3.50! I am not sure what this magnetic thing is called, but I plan to use it for holding my pins and keeping it by my sewing machine.

I also bought this "Merry Chrstmas" set of blocks. I plan to display them on my tiered piece in my foyer. Planning on painting it sometime next week. We've had some rain, so haven't been able to paint it.
See this???

This is the state of our sad, sad deck right now. We are in the middle of needing to restain it. Haven't had good weather or a good block of time to finish it. We plan on using this stuff to strip and clean.

We don't plan to stain it the traditional way...meaning one stain color. So stay tuned for the "after" pic of this project.

Hope you have fun canvassing the last of the yard/garage sales in your area. I know you ladies out there do some cool stuff with thrifted or garage/yard sale finds. I find so much inspiration in blogland.

Have a great weekend!Pin It Now!
