Inspiration for home decor

I was taking a stroll through at Homegoods today to get "inspired." I came across some things that I liked, but couldn't buy. You know, just window shopping and getting inspired. I did see a very cool fabric basket that I would like to make and so hopefully I can share that with you next week.

One other thing I saw were these. I thought, "How cool!" Forget painting your own chalkboard. Look at this. It's peel and stick. You can't get anymore instantly gratified than that.

Right next to it was this.

I am all about instant gratification with a project. I might use these in the future.

Loving this light fixture from http://www.sturbridgeyankee.com/fort-hill-pendant/p/41968/ I would love to hang it over my sink in my kitchen.

They have some great linens too. I love the the simpleness of this star quilt with the pop of red on the white.

I have always liked white enamelware with the black on the rims as an accent. Loving this tissue, tp holder.

I finally acquired all the materials necessary to make the roman blinds in our master bath. Hopefully I can get to that in the next week or so. Once I do, I will post pics to share with you all.

Have a great weekend.

Pottery Barn knock off with a twist

Remember me talking about this Pottery Barn accessory?

Well, I have found a wonderful blog with a very creative lady named Michelle who was thinking along the same lines as me , but she had a better way to go about it than I did. She shows you step-by-step how she achieved this look, but with a different subject matter than the horse. She has my creatives juices rolling and I have all the necessary supplies to put it all together.
Check out her link and giver her blog a browse.

I will be back Monday and will for sure post pics of the deck and update you on my progress of my pinwheel quilt. My dear son needed a little TLC while recovering from his surgery.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.Pin It Now!

YOU DREAM IT, YOU CAN MAKE IT ...

I was wanting to have this as a feature to inspire you every Wednesday, but Wednesday was my wedding anniversary so being on the computer wasn't in the equation.

BTW, "Thank you" to Gen and Sue for the sweet anniversary wishes. You ladies are sweet.

I have been surfing again and I found one blog that has a very cool project that I think would be great to give as Christmas gifts. I know, I know, it's only September, but Christmas will be here before you know it.

I want you to check out this link.

Chris Crandall has a cool website that allows you to make wonderful projects with photos. The link I gave you actually is the post I want you all to see. I am so loving that project. I am seriously considering making some to give away as gifts and some for around my home. So, hop on over there and check it out.

Darling son is having some wisdom teeth pulled today. So later on I will post pics of the deck. We finally finished it! YAY! I am also making progress on my pinwheel blocks and will show you that as well.
Have a great day everyone!Pin It Now!

Inspiration Monday

What's inspiring me today?

Quilts and pillows!

If you are like me you frequently get catalogs in the mail. I especially look forward to a few for some inspiration whether it be for decorating my home or quilting.

Recently I received an LL Bean catalog. They have two vintage inspired quilts in there and I would love to try to make. The first one is an orange peel quilt. At first glance, it resembles the cathedral window. However, in my quest to find any kind of directions or templates; I have found it is put together very differently.

While at my local quilt store this past weekend, I also found out there will be a class on how to make this block. So, looking forward to taking that class.

The other quilt is their flying geese quilt. In the picture to the right it is the quilt on the bed closest to the wicker rocker. I guess I am really enjoying using half square triangle blocks in quilts of late.

I am still piecing my pinwheel quilt and have decided to give it away rather than keep it. Christmas is coming up and I thought it would make a nice gift to keep someone warm this winter.

The last quilt that has me inspired is this one. I love how it has that moving blanket look. I can see it done in solid colors on both sides with a contrasting binding. I can also see it with a solid color on one side and a print on the other with a contrasting binding.

Something I haven't done as of yet is a whole cloth quilt. As much as I love piecing tops, I would love to try a whole cloth quilt. Sometimes I just really love a fabric so much that I want that to be the whole quilt top and nothing else. Maybe my local quilt store will do a class on that sometime.

Pillows, Pillows, who can resist them? They add softness to a room and they are easy to sew up. You can change them out often because they don't require much fabric to make them. Here are a few that are inspiring me that are from Pottery Barn. I think this pillow would be easy to make, however, I haven't been able to find that kind of fabric. I also like the sweater looking one behind it.

I also like these sea life inspired pillows that are also from Pottery Barn.
