Happy Tuesday!

Feeling loads better. That nasty flu bug is out of here, thank goodness. Everyone is on the mend and doing better. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes.

While I was out sick I was thinking whether it be easier and cheaper to redo the guest bedroom or spruce up the master bath? For now, I think it will be easier to spruce up the master bath. So, I am off to buy some new towels today and get some fabric to attempt to make some roman shades for our windows above the soaker tub. Then I will shop the house...or the basement rather for accessories to add in there. If those roman shades don't give me a fit, I will post pics of it all. I would love to paint our vanity black....we'll see.

I am also working on a baby quilt for a friends daughter and will show that progress too. I am using the stacked coins pattern . Amanda Jean from crazymom quilts was a guest over at Moda Bake shop and posted this pattern. It was just adoreable and do able and so I am working on that. Check out the link for the stacked coins pattern as well as other fun projects you can do.

DECORATING...

I am looking to redecorate my guestbedroom. It used to be our daughters room, but we put her in the old guestbedroom. It has a bigger closet and she needed that space. I am looking for a peaceful, relaxing look in this room and I am hoping to not have to buy anything. Want to try and use what I have to achieve the look I would like.

Here is a room from BHG that I was inspired by. I love the contrast of the colors. I like the fact that there isn't a lot of pattern going on. It's simple and understated, but looks like it is very inviting and comfy.

Here is another one that I liked. It's blue and white again, but more vintage inspired.

Okay, so I went and to pics of the room even though it was a mess...you know, just to keep things real. Well, battery on camera needs charged. So, I can't post a pic of the actual room that needs decorating. I am off to charge the battery. I will post pics later on what I have to work with furniture wise, bedding wise, etc. And maybe you all can help me out.

Enjoy your day!Pin It Now!

Sweet Bourbon Salmon....the recipe

My husband and I love to cook. Believe it or not though, neither of us drink.....wine,beer, etc. Wouldn't know it though by the way I like to cook.

I was looking back at some of the recipes I have shared and need to apologize. I said I was going to post the Sweet Bourbon Salmon recipe and I failed to do that. So here it is today! This is a great main dish if you want to fix dinner in a hurry. I usually have a salad and roasted veggies for the side dishes. This is also another great meal to use when entertaining.

We usually have this a once a week. I especially like it in the summer time when the hubs will cook it on the grill. We do the foil packet thing when we grill it.

Sweet Bourbon Salmon

5 salomon filets (8 oz. each)
5 tsp. chives, snipped fresh

marinade :
5/8 C. pineapple juice
5 TBSP. Soy sauce
5 TBSP. brown sugar
2 1/2 tsp. Kentucky Bourbon
5/8 tsp. freshly cracked pepper
5/16 tsp. garlic powder
1/1/4 C. vegetable oil
Directions:

Combine the pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, bourbon, pepper and garlic powder in a medium bowl. Stir to dissolve sugar and add oil.

Be sure that all is skin is removed from the salmon. Place filets in a shallow dish and pour bourbon marinade over them, saving a little to brush on the fish as it cooks. Put a lid over the fish and refrigerate for at least an hour. The longer you marinate the better the salmon tastes.

I like to broil mine in the oven or grill it in the summer. For broiling in the oven, set your oven to broiler and broil one side for seven minutes and then turn over and brush with some marinade and broil for seven more minutes. The tops should have a bit of a caramelized look on them and you should be able to flake the salmon off with a fork easily.

Arrange on a plate and sprinkle with chives.

Enjoy!

WELL, THERE I AM

For those of you who have always wanted to know what I look like...there ya go. That pic was taken almost three years ago. I had to crop that out from another picture. I am the one behind the camera all the time, so there aren't a lot of pics of me in our family albums. Hopefully I can get some more update ones of me and post a better picture. For now, that's it.

Internet is really running slow for some reason, so will post pics of wip's tomorrow.

Have a great evening!Pin It Now!

HELLO

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It finally warmed up here. It got as high as the 50's. It melted all the snow we had on the ground which was nice.

Had an ill hubby and ill son this weekend so not much sewing or quilting went on here. However, if you check back today I will be posting a pic of my mug up by my profile. So, if you are interested in seeing that I will be doing that after lunch sometime. I will also have some pics of some works in progress to share with you.

I have been doing a little tweeking with my blog giving it some new colors. I am so ready for spring and wanted the blog to reflect that.

Enjoy your day!Pin It Now!
