Come take a peek at my SUBWAY ART

Last week I wanted to share a project with you that I was working on, but life got busy and I wasn't able to share it on Friday like I had planned.

I worked on it some on Saturday and Sunday we were gone all day so I didn't have a dedicated block of time to work on it.  Yesterday I was determined to get it done and hang it up.

In our new home it's important to me to decorate with things that have meaning....like faith and family.  So, to start off my first piece of artwork here, I chose to have a scriputre verse on my subway art.  I plan on making more to put throughout the house.   I chose  Joshua 24:15 to use.  Here it is.  Let  me know what you think.

and here is a close up.  I had a little paint mishap, so there is a smudge I need to fix and I also need to paint in the scripture reference.
I am pleased with how it turned out.  I am not sure if I will lean it up against the wall like that on the mantel or actually hang it up a little higher.  What do you think?  Lean or hang?

Now I have my very own piece of subway art that is meaningful to me and my family....and do you want to know what the best part is????  It only cost me the price of the canvas...which was $18.99!
Stop by tomorrow  and I will share how I made my subway art.

Have a great day!

Hi Cheryl,
This is nice. I like it leaning just the way you have it.
You asked about an attached cushion chair? I don't know what an English chair is so I couldn't give you any ideas. I would need to see a picture of it. Most attached cushion forms/lines can't be followed. That would be an upholstery technique. You either have to go across it with the fabric, or cut the cushion off.
Hope this helps!
Kelly

love it!
what kind of paint did you use?

Hi Kelly O!
I just used regular ole craft paint. Can you believe it? It took two coats and gave me great coverage.
The color is 2604 Barn Red by Apple Barrel.

I have a question. Why do you call it subway art? I love it, by the way. It's wonderful!

Hi AmandaJean!
thanks for stopping by my blog.
First of all, I published your comment twice, that's why I deleted one of them.
Secondly, I guess it really isn't subway art since I don't have street names or cities on it, but you can take a look at these links and you can get an idea of what subway art is. They are supposed to resemble street signs in New York, etc.

And here is what I was going after. Check out this site. I love everything she has on there.

Great job! It turned out just wonderful! I love the red pop of color you chose -- it looks fantastic. Love that verse too. :)

I love that scripture and the RED! It's a wonderful contrast.

You did a wonderful job on your art! Inspires me that I can try the same. I think it looks great leaning, but it would work nicely on the wall too, especially for additional decorations as at Christmas or something. Blessings!
